15-11-06 13:11 SIN SOSPECHAS/Venezuela By MIKE THE BEGINNINGS Sin Sospechas is the pioneer band of Venezuelan Ska, and the most important for the category Latin Ska, with a long trajectory of 14 continuous years. It was born in a popular district from Caracas named Caricuao, place which from then on was going to been known as “The rude zone” due to the Jamaican music influence, pretty listened around there. INFLUENCES: There are many bands which influence affected directly Sin Sospechas from the beginning, and due to the wonderful mixture of different musical currents, it was born the real Latin Ska, with the Venezuelan seal from the group. Los Fabulosos Cadillacs, Los Pericos, Todos tus Muertos, The Specials, Madness, Mano Negra, Rubén Blades, Café Tacuba are just some of the groups which stile has been part to get the current sound & letters. LYRICS: For Sin Sospechas the diversity is what reigns inside an orbit that inspires to “Say Something”. From the early 1990 there were important pieces such as “Los Abuelos del Ska”, which is still their himn, and “Abstención al Poder”, song with a polemic lyric that even take them to TV to expose and defend their point of view. “Music is integral part of reality”, people says, and this is a prayer that wish to wake up our country. After years of maturity, the band joins universal themes such as love, party, social reflections, and politics without touching polemic territories that could offend the human bean. THE ORANGE SKA: Sin Sospechas was reinvented in 1.996, due to the born of the disc Venezuela SKA Vol.# 1, where the band assume an Orange & Black image, which contrasts with the emblematic position 2tone of European Ska, giving it a warm Caribbean meaning, to it fresh and energetic music. The Orange Ska gets the band logo and pass through their actual clothes weared in their shows. Actually, this is more than Latin Ska, it is nowadays Venezuelan Ska. Sin Sospechas has capitalized and tropicalized the tendency where it was born; at their beginnings they used radical icons: Suit, dark lenses and hat, pretty different to the current “Rude” dancer who dances without any fastening.
