SKA-J is a typical jazz ensemble playing standard and original jazz and jamaican tunes played in a afro-Jamaican style. The band is so composed: drum, double bass, arch top guitar, two tenor sax and trombone. In june came out the newest cd live "Men in the street" recorded during summer an fall 2003. In may 2004 the band produced a single as a prewiev of the next album now recording with a clip with the help of Venetian movie staff. The tune is "Quizas, quizas, quizas" (O. Farres) that presented also at XXVI Girofestival recorded in Reggio Calabria for national TV Rai3. During springtime the band worked with other groups like Banda Osiris for the soundtrack of Cateraduno 2004, a very popular radio show (on national channel) that guested Skaj many times, the tune is "Movite" (move). In these months Skaj toured Italy for more than 50 gigs held also abroad (Germany an Austria). Beside that the band were asked to Play.it a TVshow from AllMusic, and another couple of shows for the satellite TV RockTv.
During 2003 in more than 60 gigs, the band showed up in some internet and TV show as Kataweb (go for www.kataweb.it/community/live/skaj/index.html ) at Motorshow, RockTv, in a showcase radio live for Caterpillar a Radio2 show and also for Radio2 for the show Terazza Baldini opening the concert Spritz On Tha Beach in Jesolo, near Venice; For Radio1 live performance during Veneziasuona. Some of our tunes where included in many compilations as: Caterpillar Volume 6 (Santamarta), Clarino (Well You Needn’t) and Skannibal Party (In The Mood For Ska). Durino september and october they produced the clip of Santamarta , shooted in Venezia. The tune is included in their first album Venice Goes Ska, recorded live in studio in november 2002. Labeled by KOB for Italy and by MAD BUTCHER for the rest of Europe, we sold more than 3000 mostly during concerts. In 2002 they where front band for Wailers in Rafanass a big festival in north of Italy (Rovereto) and for Sakatalites in Bassano.
