THE STEAM PIG
The Steam Pig Began in Dublin at Halloween 1994, as a unit of agents on special commission to weed out two bit ideology peddlers and mental incompetents at local punk gigs. Various local gigs, trips to England and a well received cassette release led to the band’s first album “ Wy-id t’d’ double-in “ on Mad Butcher records in Germany in 1997.
In 1998, the band worked towards the follow-up record, releasing the EP “ Motorhead at 5am “, which was overshadowed by the suicide of guitarist Godsy in October of that year.
Rekindling the troops, the band continued as a 3 piece and finished off the workload of songs that would become “DEEP FRIED OBEDIENCE” on Mad Butcher records in 2000. The album unveiled a darker side and received wide acclaim at home and abroad.
in 2001, The Steam Pig played their first gigs in Europe and at xmas of that year recorded tracks which would constitute the 3rd album “ POTSHOTS “ although the album itself did not get released til 2003, in which time the band continued playing live and familiarising the public with their ever progressing sound. “ POTSHOTS “ was eventually unveiled in a joint venture between JACINTA’S OFFSHORE HOLDINGS ( the band’s own label ) and PUNK SHIT RECORDS ( UK ) in July 2003. This short noisy hairball of an album contained a nastier strain of venom, clocking in at under 27 minutes and priding itself as one of the most scathing attacks on humanity you’re likely to hear. It was described in a number of reviews as the band’s “ REIGN IN BLOOD “!!! and represents a landmark in the development of the band’s sound.
following more gigs in Europe and England, the band began work on recording the tracks for a new album “ War Of The Slugs “ due for release in Summer/Autumn 2004.
