Los Dingos started in the year 2000 with the aim of creating a band influenced only by the Jamaican music. Granada , in the South of The Spanish State (Andalucia), is the city where all the members of the band first met. A place where musical culture, fun and sun live together.
Over time, the band has come in and out of its hardships with many members, but now it is more solid than ever:
- Alba Camacho Reina plays the saxophones
- Carlos G Marin Benitez (St.Dragon) plays the guitar and backing vocals
- Efrén Navarro Exposito plays the keyboards
- Isabel García Fernández is the vocalist of the band
- Jacobo García Rodríguez plays the drum
- Jose Mª Martínez Rabaneda (Labase) plays the bass
Six musicians with only one mission, spreading the Jamaican music all around the world by means of their show. Early reggae, skinhead reggae, ska and soul are the weapons they use to do it. Desmond Deckker, Toots and the Maytals, Derrick Morgan, Jackie Mitto... , and new bands like Hepcat, Slackers, Chris Murray, After Hours, Go Jimmy Go... are the “gurus” of the band.
Los Dingos have played many concerts, parties and Jamaican festivals sharing the stage with great musicians such as Laurel Aitken and Desmond Deckker, or bands like Malarians, Skaos and Doctor Calypso.
After two demos edited by themselves, in the year 2002 Los Dingos edited the EP “ 737 Destino Estambul” by means of Wild Punk Records (www.wildpunk.com). It included five tracks that were very well received by the radios and magazines of the ska & reggae scene. The good criticism received encouraged the band to record their first Lp “Dreams of Glory” that will appear by the German Mad Butcher Records , a label specialized in ska, punk and oi music.
“ Dreams Of Glory “ has been composed under the influences not only of the 60s music but also of the producers and creative techniques of this time, made with heart and soul rather than with machines.
